The Shaker Digital Humanities Collaboratory is an interdisciplinary research hub dedicated to exploring Shaker history through cutting-edge digital methods. Bringing together historians, archivists, technologists, architects, preservationists, designers, students and patrons, the collaboratory employs advanced methods such as augmented reality (AR), natural language processing (NLP), mapping technologies, and aerial photogrammetry. These methods are used to cultivate datasets from large text corpora, create 3D models of Shaker artifacts and buildings, and geographically represent the built environment, preserving history digitally for research and public engagement. By integrating these digital methods, the collaboratory fosters new insights into Shaker culture while making historical materials more accessible and engaging.
